Getting ThereNational airline is Air Namibia. They operate internal flights, flights to South Africa and to London. Windhoek (WDH) is the only international airport, it is 25 miles outside the city. Private taxis and shuttle buses are avbailable at the airport.
The Trans Namib starline operates a train to Upington in south Africa. The trans-Kalahari highway runs via Botswana to Johannesburg and Gauteng. The trans-Caprivi highway runs via caprivi and Botswana to Zimbabwe. There is a tar road running into Upington, South Africa. The Intercape Mainliner runs daily from Johannesburg to Windhoek, from Upington you can catch a connection to Cape Town. |

Getting AroundAir Namibia operate flights around the country from erois Airport in windhoek Otherwise charter flights are available. Trains do run between Windhoek and the coast but they are slow and fairly infrequent. They also primarliy run overnight. There are two toruist orientated luxury train tours in Namibia:
Generally the main roads are in very good conditon. animals and people wlkibg on highways acn ba a hazard especilly at night. Distnces between destinations are big, often with little inbetween, carrying spare fuel and wtaer is a must. Traffic drives on the left. There is suaully no extra charge to take hire cars from South Africa into Namibia. |
