Getting There

By Air

Air Malawi is the National airline.  The main international airport is Lilongwe (LLW), which is 26 km from the city. Both buses and taxis are available to the city.

By Road

There are road connections to Mozambique via Mwanza and Chiponde.  with Tanzania and with Zambia at Chipata.  The translux bus service runs from Johannesburg to lilongwe.

Getting Around

By Air

There is a a network of flights between Lilongwe, Blantyre, Mzuzu and liwonge Mational park.

By Rail

There is a rail service connecting Mchinji, Lilongwe, Salima, Chipoka, Blantyre, Limbe and Nsanje. It is a slow and often overcrowded sevice.

By Car

Major roads are tarred.  Buses run between most major towns, services are frequent and there are express services.
Car hire is available but standards vary.
