Getting There

By Air

The national airline is Guiné Bissau Airlines
Bissau (OXG) airport is the main international airport. It is 11 km from the city, taxis are available.

By Water

Bissau is the main port, but there are 4 further inland ports.

By Road

There is an entry point form Guinea, and from Senegal but this is not safe.

Getting Around

By Air

The national airline provides internal flights, to around 20 destinations including islands.

By Water

this is the main form of transportation, especially in the wet season when roads are often impassable.  There are ferries from Bissau, Bolama, Bubaque Island, Catio and Enyudé (often irregular owing to tides) and Bissau to Bafatá, calling at smaller towns en route. There are also services from Bissau aloing the North Coast.

By Road

About 20% of the ountry's roads are tarred and some of those are all weather services.  needless to say movin around in the rainy season is difficult by road.  Car hire is available in Bissau but is quite expensive.  An international driving permit is required.
