CFA (Franc de la Communaut Financière Africaine) Franc (CFAfr) = 100 centimes. Notes are in denominations of CFAfr10,000, 5000, 2000, 1000 and 500. Coins are in denominations of CFAfr250, 100, 50, 25, 10, 5 and 1. Cameroon is part of the French Monetary Area
Credit cards have very limited use
Euros are relatively easy to change, this is the best currency for travellers cheques

International direct dialling is widely available, phones and phonecards are also widely available.
Mobile phone roaming agrements exist and coverage is fairly widespread.
Internet cafes are available in urban areas.
Post offices are found in most urban centres and are open from 08:00 to 15:30. Mail to Europe takes about 1 week.
